Rupee - Banaras mint The ruler who followed Alamgir was Shah Alam II(1759-1806.AD)...He though was an Emperor by title, never set his foot at Delhi for the first twelve years of rule. This coin was issued by the Nawab of Arkot in the name of the Emperor. This is 1/16 of a paisa. Forty paise went into a rupee those days. That makes it 1/640 of a rupee of those days. With the decimal system now in vogue, it will fall 1/1600 of a rupee, a denomination incredible to the present generation of Indians.(Coins of denominations 25 paise and less have recently been stopped and withdrawn from circulation. What about this 1/16 paisa? Poor thing!.) Copper - 2.8gms - 1/8Paisa....

Rupee - uncertain mint..Coins issued in the name of Shah Alam during the early years were probably brought out by the Maratha ruler acting as a patron.

I shall now post some special coins of the Mughals. First one is a coin of Kamran, brother of Humayun. He ruled over a territory comprising Kandhar and Kabul. Humayun while in exile took that from him in the year 1545.AD.
