Hi! sel_69l, square rupee of Shahjahan is indeed an excellent piece to have. It is one of the coveted coins of the Mughals. I don't have one and I am still hunting for it.Great!

Sayyid brothers hoisted Farukhsiyar (1712-1718) to the throne after Jahandar. He was a mere puppet in the beginning, but started to resist the power of the Sayyids later.Sayyids played it smarter and Farukhsiyar lost his head for it.

5.Rupee - Surat mint

6.Rupee - Bareli mint

7.Rupee - Hyderabad (Furkhanda bunyad)?

Bottom line on the image on the right shows mint name barely readable as "bunyad". (EgCollector may please help).
Farukhsiyar has issued coins from Hyderabad with the mint epiphet "furkhanda bunyad" between his regnal years 3 and 6. This coin is an issue of his third year of reign.
Hence in all possibilities, this is from that mint.

Muhammad Shah (1718-1748.AD)
Even though Sayyid brothers were instrumental in raising him to the throne, he got rid of them and plunged into debauchery. He was nick named "Rangila" meaning colorful for his attraction to colorful dresses which he used to change several times a day.

Many principalities began declaring independence. Hyderabad, Awadh and several other Princely states came into existence during his reign and the mighty Mughal Empire began its slide down thanks to Muhammad shah.

Thanks brother, and wow! what a displayed of nice series of Indian Coins. My dad, left behind two coins, almost similar, but I just couldn't understand what is written on it. Most probably obtained from some Indian traders or immigrants from Madras or southern India, long ago. Your assistance is needed, thanks in advance.

Hi! dear Dragons Seng, this coin is a "Rupee" of East India Company, Bengal Presidency, struck at "Murshidabad" mint. It was issued by the British, in the name of "Shah Alam-II" the Mughal ruler. I have tried to give you the identification clues also. Thanks.
