Only one profile per person.
If you wouldn't want your 10-year-old daughter to see it, then don't post it here.
No bad language, unacceptable pictures, or links to any sites that contain them.
No pictures of screens. 95% of the time they are worthless.
No bypassing the forum filters by any means. 
Politics and religion are off-limits.
The staff reserves the right to remove anything we deem unacceptable or off-topic for any reason at any time.

| Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Debates are healthy and thought-provoking, but they must remain civil. |

"Report Post" Button (12/1/2007) |
There is a "Report Post" button in the bottom right corner of every post. This is by far the fastest way to get the staff's attention. A big red flashing light goes off on the top of all the staff members' monitors.  It can be used for anything, including but not limited to...
1. Reporting spam.
2. Reporting unacceptable content.
3. Requesting a topic be moved. |

This site may contain links to other web sites and files posted by members. We have no control over the content and can not ensure it will not be offensive or objectionable. We will, however, remove links to material that we feel is inappropriate as we become aware of them.
These forums are not private. Any information posted here will be available to the general public.

Member Sanctions (1/20/2013) |
Violations of the forum rules may result in sanctions against a member. These sanctions can range from a suspension of a length to be determined by the Staff, to banning from the site.
Sanction severity will vary based on many different factors and each incident will be reviewed on its own. Discussing sanctions against a member on the forum is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with swiftly and severely. Registering under a different user name to argue or circumvent a suspension may result in permanent banning from the site.
Also, any active member "proxy" posting for a banned member may also be subject to sanctions along with additional sanctions to the banned member. |

Forum Email System (7/3/2007) |
| The email system is not available to new members for security reasons. Persistent ignoring of the warnings will result in the forum software locking your account. Abuse of the email system including, but not limited to, self promotion and spam will result in immediate and likely permanent banning. |

Avatars and Signatures (3/7/2012) |
Animation
Animated images are not permitted in avatars or signatures.
Avatars
Custom avatars can be added to your profile for your exclusive use. All you need to do is upload it in the support forum or link to it. Don't worry about sizing or cropping. We will take care of cropping and resizing the image.
Fine print: Avatars may not be animated, political, or contain advertising and must be family friendly. Any avatar may be rejected for any reason.
Signatures
Signatures are not allowed until you reach 100 quality posts and must be discreet. Some forums look like a circus because of the crazy signatures that are allowed. This will not happen here.
1. Signatures are limited to 125 pixels in height.
2. Text must be normal forum size. Do not make it bigger.
3. No more than 3 links.
4. No colored text, please use black only.
5. No animated or obnoxious images that distract from the forum topics.
6. You may link to buy, sell, and trade items on the forum or other sites. You may not actually list the items in your signature.
7. Please don't try to be clever and add a manual signature to every post. Trust me, you're not the first to think of it.
Spirit of this rule: Do not go out of your way to make your signature stick out, if people want to read it, they will read it.
Note: All avatars and signatures are subject to approval and removal by the staff at any time. |

Buy / Sell / Trade / Want List Rules (1/19/2012) |
250 quality* posts and membership for 90 days are required to; post items for sale, post items for trade, or reply to a want list. Specific selling rules here.
100 quality* posts and membership for 21 days are required to; post links to sales on external sites such as eBay or eCrater.
50 quality* posts and membership for 14 days are required to; buy items, respond to a trade, or post a want list.
All buying, selling, and trading must be done in the appropriate forums, not the discussion forums. The Buy, sell, and Trade forums are for participating forum members only.
Topics in the Want List and Trade forums may be edited forever, therefore only one topic per member is allowed.
Charity sales of any type must have prior approval from the Staff.
All transactions made on or initiated from the forum are 100% the members' responsibility. Coin Community is merely a venue for the transaction and assumes no responsibility whatsoever. Trade, buy, and sell at your own risk.
Posting or sharing personal information collected during a transaction with another member without express permission from that member is a significant breach of trust and security and is strictly forbidden.
The Staff reserves the right to pull any buy, sell, or trade reference at any time for any reason without consequence.
The Staff reserves the right to ban any member from buying, selling, or trading at any time for any reason without consequence.
These rules apply to everyone and are not negotiable. Any attempts to circumvent these rules will be dealt with swiftly and very likely with consequences.
*Quality post: This is entirely at the Staff's discretion. Running through a bunch of topics and responding with "cool", "nice find", "thanks", and similar short no-brainer responses are not considered quality posts. Don't laugh, we've had new members do this then go straight to the sell section and post a link to their eBay auctions. Post counts may be edited by the Staff at any time without warning. |

Self Promotion / Advertising (7/3/2007) |
Self promotion of any kind is considered spam. This includes silly work arounds to the posting links rule. For example, telling visitors to go to Google and search "blah, blah, blah" and it will be the first result. If your post is removed and you say "But I didn't post a link," we will probably just lock your account and forget about you.
No advertising. If you need to advertise we have options. Also, No promoting other discussion groups whether you own them or not. |

Choose the Correct Forum (7/3/2007) |
We have many forums to choose from that are broken down in to categories. Posting your topic in the most appropriate forum will get the best results.
Occasionally the staff may move a topic to a different forum. These decisions are based on experience and will most likely get your topic more attention. If your topic is moved the forum will send you an email letting you know. |

Posting External Links (11/1/2010) |
If you are a new member, please refrain from posting external links right away, live or static, unless you have prior approval from the staff. Stick around and get to know everyone first. This will avoid any confusion about your intentions. Good things come to those who wait.

Drive-By Links
Promotion by new members of other sites. These type links are sometimes very obvious, sometimes they are not. We are not a free advertising site, so if you are here to advertise please click here. Posting links to sites you own is not allowed until you reach 50 quality posts. Please do not be offended if you have a link removed. It's not a reflection on the quality of the site and it's not personal.
Profile Links
Search engines are blocked from member profiles, so if you are thinking of signing up just to get a back link in your profile, keep moving and don't waste our time and yours. It will be worthless.
Competing Links
From time to time links may be posted that are in a direct conflict with a Coin Community revenue stream. These links may be removed depending on the possible affects on this site. Be sure to also see the self promotion rule.
URL Shorteners
Services that shorten links are not allowed here at all. They are dangerous as they hide the true destination of the link. |

Topic Titles (5/2/2016) |
The title of your topic is very important. This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.
Topic titles must be at least 20 characters in length. Please don't think it's appropriate to just add random characters or words irrelevant to the the to "fill in" so the topic goes through. It's not and the topic will likely be removed.
Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....
Bad: Need help with coin
Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar
Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

| Please use paragraphs. It is extremely difficult to read very long blocks of text on a computer screen. It's OK if you're not a grammatical guru and split them in the wrong places, just break it up some please. |

| Please do not post your own or others personal information. This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. There are robots that scour the internet for personal info. |

Please do not post the same topic in multiple forums. Pick the one that you think best fits your topic. If the staff feels that it belongs in a different forum, they will move it. You may also contact a staff member to suggest the topic be moved.

Topics like "Please see my auctions in the auction forum" posted in the Main Coin Forum are not allowed. |

Images in Posts (5/16/2010) |
Images are permitted in posts within reason. Obviously photos of coins involved in the topic are always allowed and encouraged. Extraneous images other than the occasional smiley, happy birthday image, or similar are frowned upon and subject to removal. The staff reserves the right to remove any image, at any time, for any reason, with no explanation required.
Photobucket
Not allowed due to their greed and no warning bait and switch incident. Told us for years images would show up everywhere, then all of a sudden one day millions of images on the Internet go dead. So you notice this and go to Photobucket's site and are greeted with a $400 bill if you want your images to show elsewhere. And $400 the year after... and $400 the year after that... and $400 the year after that... and $400 the year after that... well, you get the idea.

Although you may use then to host your images linking directly to them is not permitted. See this Imageshack topic to learn how to make them appear directly in your post. |
