This is my new baby: 1999 South Africa 50 Rand Lions with cub drinking water at center, male lion head at right on face; Sasol oil refinery at lower left center on back. There are 2 banknotes of this design, 1992 and 1999 the only difference is the signature. Then in 2005 was issued the same banknote with very small changes and in 2012 we find the same lion but in the back, as Mandela is on face.

J'aime beaucoup le billet de la France. Can we see both sided of the French banknotes?

Souvenirs from my recent vacation: The windmill on the reverse of the Barbados $2 note is the Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill, which also appears on that country's 25c coin.

Quote: Ark They're uni-faced, theres nothing on the reverses but dirt Ok, I see. So, you can use it to write some notes.

At last I've got an Uncirculated Chris Salmon £5 note: I've had quite a few circulated ones but crisp new ones are hard to find. Yesterday I used an ATM that I've never used before, and was surprised to find that it distributed £5 notes. So I got my first UNC Salmon fivers!

Went to the bank to get currency for my upcoming cruise and the teller handed me a beautiful Netherlands Antilles 10 Guilder 2006 UNC (P-28d)- exchange value, $5.50 USD, selling for $30+ USD.

Can anyone tell me why some banknotes have a circle of plain white background, as in Scotland and Barbados? Did they stamp these portions at one point? Or does it have something to do with watermarks?

It's where you'll find the watermark. If the Queen is on the face of the note then it's usually her portrait in the watermark as well.
I'm unaware of (and never seen) a British banknote defaced with a stamp.
