Hungary Pengo Note Variant That Does Not Seem To Exist

Hi friends,
I am trying to put together a complete collection of the Hungarian hyperinflation pengos, but there is one note that I have been unable to find (despite it being listed in the catalogue), which makes me think that catalog might have an error.
The variant is the 1945 Green 100,000 Pengo with a stamp affixed (P-121b). This is not the much rare blue 100,000 Pengo, for which I have seen both variants (i.e., with and without stamp). This Green pengo note I have only ever seen without a stamp, despite the catalogue listing that there is a variant with the stamp.
I haven't been able to find even an image of this variant (green 100,000 pengo with stamp), which makes me think the catalogue may be mistaken in listing it (or incorrect in valuing this variant as extremely common - $2 in UNC). Even banknote.ws doesn't have an image of it http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/c.../HUN0121.htm
Does anyone have more information on this? |

Hi guys, I've found this in my grandpa's things, is it real? It looks real to me, but the fact that the stamp on the reverse says the interest was paid in 1884 has me worried. How could the interest be paid after the Confederate States dissolved?

Hi, I have just acquired this 1917 1,000 Ruble and I am trying to figure out whether it was issued by the Soviets or the Kerensky Provisional Government, but the series block "A [Russian Hard Sign]" isn't mentioned in either the Krause catalog or Banknote.ws http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/c.../RUS0037.htm

Is it possible this is an error or some other unknown variety? Or is this an obsolete Cyrillic letter that is written differently in the catalog than it appears on the note?
Many thanks :) |

@oriole, I've had a look through my collection and found that I already have the following figures covered:
Charlemagne - Grödig, 40 Heller (1920)
Maurice Wilhelm, Duke of Saxe-Merseburg - Merseburg, 10 Pfennig (1921)
St. John of Nepomuk - Schlierbach, 50 Heller (1920)
Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor - Magdeburg, 50 Pfennig (1920)
St. Peter - Trier, 50 Pfennig (1918)
Friedrich Sertürner - Neuhaus (Paderborn), 2 Mark (1921)
Louis Spohr - Braunschweig, 25 Pfennig (1921)

@oriole, I have always wanted them but its a huge series and very expensive, plus no library in my country has them. I wish they would release a digital version that was more affordable, I would buy it in a heartbeat! |

I recently acquired this notgeld from Allenstein (now Olsztyn, Poland) that depicted Bismarck, von Below, and von Scholtz, and I wondered if any of you knew any other examples of notgeld depicting famous historical figures? I am thinking it would make an exciting theme for a new section of my collection. |

I wonder if anyone could help me identify where this notgeld is from. It says it is a "Hartheimer Notgeld" and it is identified as being from the town of Hartheimer in every online mention I have found. But I have not been able to find any mention of such a town in Austria apart from in relation to this note. The note also has in smaller text "Linz a/d D", which is the city of Linz, which definitely is a real place. I wonder if that is its real origin, or whether Hartheimer is perhaps a suburb or company based in Linz at that time? Thanks in advance :)
Here is a link to a picture of the same note, since I am not able to upload a picture of my own: https://img.ricardostatic.ch/t_1800...6051096/0/1/ |
