A Youtube channel is reporting these are going to have a 230 privy mark, or some of them will. The mint added pics of the privy mark but no specifics or mintage limits yet.

I don't care for the privy mark. I feel it is unnecessary and detracts from the medal's appearance. It has me reconsidering my interest in ordering it.

The privy mark—I can take it or leave it. I am still interested in getting this medal either way.

Mint info is now available:

1. 75K mintage
2. 1,794 will have the "230" privy mark
3. 230 of the privy marks will have COA signed by Mint Director Gibson
4. order limit 1
5. $104

Maybe someone on CCF will get the privy. Good luck to all.

I think the mint learned 4 years ago that privy mark plus limited availability = $$$ for them.

Very interesting. That is one way for them to make sure these sell out.

You pay more (maybe $40) for each medal with the chance to get a "good one"

Gambling.

I need a new "unique issue one off" large pocket piece to take the place of my Ellis Island I'm ready to retire to wear down to basal state and still be identifiable same as my Canadian $20 for $20 but somehow I have a little "distrust" in the US Mint and their "one off limited" and "commemorative medal" etc issues after the 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars are now an annual issue.

Reminds me of the "chase" card phenomenon that invaded the sports card hobby in the early to mid 90's. . .even now, collectors are rolling the dice on expensive boxes of cardboard hoping they'll pull an autograph or rookie card variant.

Roughly 2% of the medals -- if 75,000 are struck -- will carry the privy mark. Pretty long odds of landing one.

I suppose one could buy one in the hopes of landing a privy mark and if you strike out, return it to the Mint. Many are bound to have the same "finning" issues as the last few "Liberty" medals. And in two years when the USM does its Fall Discount sale, pick up one for less than the issue price.

How much will the privy mark medals go for on the resale market ? $500 or more is my guess. We should see them listed by Halloween.
