Admittedly I love the 1935 series silver dollars. I own dozens of MS-64s, a few 65s and even a 66.

I've been cherry picking probably close to 300+ 1935s from dealers all across ON. I've been looking for a few nicer examples to add to my collection and this one has caught my eye.

I've always been the "blast white" collector but this toned example really caught my eye. To be fair the colours are a lot brighter on the photo (thanks to editing software) but no editing has been done to the coin itself.

I'd love your grading opinions. Now I've been told that the toning is natural but i'd also like others to chime in on that, as again, I try to stick with the bright problem free coins.

Any input is appreciated!

For some reason when I optimize the photo I lose clarity on it.

Edited: figured it out

I'll say MS-65. I'm not a pro at grading by any means.

I am having trouble with grading this one, due to the fact that the patina ?may? be hiding lots of tiny nicks and scratches.

Anywhere between
AU-58 and MS-63.
Close examination, hand held, with a 10x loupe should confirm, either way.
Need a variable play of light, preferably sunlight.

I prefer blast white coins with nice luster, - closer to how they would have appeared, after ejection from the coining press.

I don't normally see them speckled like that with toning, usually a rainbow or smoother transition.

I'd go MS-60 but I'm still learning to grade.

To me, the toning makes a grading call just a shot in the dark. But a beautiful coin indeed!

My take is that these high toning eye-appeal calls are a category unto themselves. That thing is gorgeous. Grade is difficult to call though. The detail on the obverse is outstanding but I feel like I see a week bit of wear on the highest points of the reverse - enough to potentially move it into AU range.

Disclaimer - I'm also not an expert on these dollars.

How about a couple images without any manipulation? Seems like it would be good to see what it actually looks like.

Very hard to grade a toned coin like this one from photos.

In particular when you say you used editing software. The reverse appears to have wear and less sharp than the obverse which to my eyes is MS.

Nice coin, I would think this would hit an MS 65. Guessing that the coin is fairly dark and grey in hand, maybe some hints of orange. Definitely one of my favorite years.
