Smallcentguy, it has nothing to do with them filling a niche. They seem to be intentionally trying to rip people off by copying ICCS.

Their certificate colour, and format is the same. They use the same packaging. 75% of their name is copied from ICCS

CCCS did it, but they used blue certificates and created their own format.

ICCS has been around since the 80s and it has nothing to do with the reputation, whether they're classified as strict or lenient, to the unsuspecting collector, it seems to be a scam.

Also the fact that it goes against eBay policy to sell TPG coins from non-approved companies.

If a billion dollar corp. has an issue with basement slabbers, there's obviously a bigger problem going on behind the scenes. EBay lets counterfeits slide daily, but doesn't hesitate to remove coins from TPG companies that aren't known of origin.

Thanks to anyone who got the PCCS slabs taken down, however the seller is now relisting them. As was thought he would.

^ that's scary. Hopefully someone can get it removed. If eBay backs the seller now, what will happened when the buyer claims it's fake. Does eBay stand by their decision determining it is genuine and refuse buyer protection?

I'm starting to search the markets for a 1948 but I'm not loving how similar this one is to the Chinese casts

Yep that's Coin Mart for ya.

It's always been a back and forth debate. Some people say they're not a third party grading company as they only grade their own coins, so they would be a "first party grading service" however a few years back someone emailed them and they had a submission form with prices for "send in grading"

Just another "basement" slabbing company. But no matter what grading is subjective

^ they've taken the same packaging as ICCS, colours, ect, created a certification label that exactly resembles ICCS. Text, style. Etc.

This company's sole purpose seems to be to trick unsuspecting buyers into thinking they're buying certified coins from a reputable company.

While I agree, you should buy the coin not the holder, it seems to be a blatant attempt to scam unsuspecting collectors.

CCCS has blue certificates, ICCS has yellow. This company could have chosen any colour, white, orange ect. They could have styled the cert differently than CCCS did. They could have different packaging like CCCS did.

Instead they copied every single feature on the ICCS slab

PCCS is back, my understanding is they were being sold out of the angus coin shop for a while before they removed them all from the website.

Now they're back, with their own eBay account.

2 negative feedback both with the response to negative feedback as something along the lines of "thank you for the red dot, we love red dots, that's Canadas colour"

What a horrendous move for the hobby.

1967 MS Vs PL Vs SP Vs Pr

I did some research trying to see if an old thread has been posted on this, but nothing surfaced.

I have:
1967 ICCS MS-66 (business strike or circulation)
1967 PCGS PL-67 (from the cellophane PL sets)
1967 ICCS SP-67 (from the gold specimen sets)
1967 PCGS PR-67 - this one confuses me.

All 4 of my coins have rainbow toning so it's tough to determine the difference between the specimen, proof like and proof strikes .

My question is, what exactly is the proof strike? Is it a PCGS thing that is the equivalent to the ICCS specimen?

Coin above is legit - my friend runs the eBay account it's being sold on. I agree the photos aren't great. If you type his ebay user into instagram you can contact him there for more pictures

Purchased 2 coins - PCGS 1937 graded as SP-64RB (i really felt strongly that this wasn't a RB so I submitted it, not only got the red designation but upgraded a point too)
original PCGS https://www.pcgs.com/cert/08786024

This was an ICCS SP-64, outter sleeve was damaged, I cut it out and resubmitted it. Came back as an SP-65.

I just finished going through 20 PL sets, I found 3 worth cutting out. I'm not really an error collector, so I'm not sure what the correct terms for each error are. I assume the 1c is a die crack, 5c and 10c are 2 versions of struck thru errors.

Have a look and let me know what you think!

I sent in a crack out from ANACS that graded higher at ICCS (very under graded at ANACS) but ICCS didn't note the "Far 4" variety on the holder. Just wondering if this is common practice? There are plenty of "far 4" and "near 4" ICCS noted coins on eBay, just wondering why mine wouldn't be commented.

Edit: I can't spell apparently.

ICCS Denoted This As Cleaned - Opinions?

I sent in a large submission to ICCS and a few coins included are family heirlooms from a friend/collector. This 1953 was alongside the lot. ICCS graded this as MS-60 cleaned

I don't pride myself in being amazing, or even subpar for that matter but I fail to see how it was cleaned. It was removed from an old 2x2 which had the window cracked thus the toning noted. Just not understanding the cleaned portion. Maybe I'm oblivious here.

Can an admin delete all photos dated 2022 and earlier. Keep everything 2023 and forward. I've changed my collecting goals and everything posted 2022 and older are irrelevant and will not be used again for future posting
