Clear pics and specs might help the experts here give their opinions.

@tt, I agree some pics would be a good start. However, as these have been counterfeited so extensively, it also may be important to establish some provenance. Did the person from whom you inherited them keep records of where they bought them? Not so much just " ebay", but rather the specific seller or auction house.

Experts for the confident authentication for these are very scarce. I am definitely not one of them.

Need to take it for in hand examination by an expert at Heritage or other similar professional authority.

@Spence, when did these start to be counterfeited extensively? I received them from my father who died in 1981 and who knows how long he had them. these come before online forums by many years.

I don't see any bills of sale, but he did extensive research on them and has them all documented.

@Spence,

from https://www.coincoin.com/I054.htm:
"My first question to someone offering me ancient Chinese coins is, what evidence do you have that the piece was outside of China before 1985? Pieces from old collections are, in my opinion, worth a premium over those without provenance."

mine were DEFINITELY outside of China before 1985!

If your father purchased them before 1981, the likelihood is that they are genuine. I would contact Joe Lang at Stephen Album Rare Coins (www.stevealbum.com).

The short answer - and it's a good one: TypeCoin971793

Sadly, he doesn't post as much here these days. Busy guy, including recently publishing on Chinese ant-nose coinage in the latest volume of KOINON: The International Journal of Classical Numismatic Studies.

I recommend sending him a message.

In the meantime, you can enjoy some of his old posts below. In most of these (maybe all), he tests us on matters of authenticating ancient Chinese cash/spades/coins - we failed as much as we passed.

@kushanshah's recommendation is a good one, but getting @type's opinion would also be useful.
