AnYang,
I have a similar set of books except that it consists of 5 volumes! the pages are made the same way by folding a large sheet in half.
My father (from whom I got these) somehow got the title or contents of each book. No way for me to know if it is the title or just the contents (e.g., xxx era).
No idea of date or author.

from whom did you buy your books on ebay? I'd like to contact that person.

any other ideas for help with these?

The denomination is One Crown or Five Shillings (it predates the UK's transition to the decimal system in 1971).

reviving this old thread....

what does the WE number refer to? I see several different ones on ebay for this same coin, or what appears at a glance to be the same coin.

ditto the Breton number?

TIA, Judy

@typecoin.....profile now allows emails. I changed that.

may have been purchased by mid 1950s. some of the newspaper used to pad the boxes (necktie type boxes) were from mid 1950s.

I don't have the skills or equipment to take good pictures.
I'm know they were purchased before 1981 and there is evidence that it was around mid 1950s.

will contact Joe at Steve album (?) as suggested.

thanks for your help.

@Spence,

from https://www.coincoin.com/I054.htm:
"My first question to someone offering me ancient Chinese coins is, what evidence do you have that the piece was outside of China before 1985? Pieces from old collections are, in my opinion, worth a premium over those without provenance."

mine were DEFINITELY outside of China before 1985!

@Spence, when did these start to be counterfeited extensively? I received them from my father who died in 1981 and who knows how long he had them. these come before online forums by many years.

I don't see any bills of sale, but he did extensive research on them and has them all documented.
