Does anybody know anything about this type of variety on a GW Presidential dollar? "2007-P Presidential dollar George Washington Elongated Ray, Position B PCGS MS-62." I first saw it when it was $8 but has now been bid up to over $80. I've never seen one before and thought it was interesting. Your thoughts would be appreciated. I probably won't bid on this coin because I don't collect Presidential dollars (Unless of course it's worth $10,000 ) so if anybody is interested in it feel free to bid on it. I'm more interested in how this coin came to be.......... https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...B-PCGS-MS-62
Oh, that's cool. I see it went up to 100$ now - hmmm, will have to keep an eye on it - maybe can pick off a sleeper? But nobody gives any information on it in Spru's post either. Guess I'll have to look around for info too.
If I found one while roll searching, I'd be happy to keep it. It's an interesting thing, I assume its a really well aligned die gouge? or a not very well aligned Mint worker.
So put this one in with the high and low leaf Wisconsin quarter varieties and where are their prices at now and where will they be in the future? Anybody have a crystal ball ? Thanks for posting, learn something new everyday (check)...I'm I going to start searching small dollar rolls for it? heck no.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I've heard both explanations but no proof was ever offered to back up either story. If die gouge how prefect of one that had to be. And if mint employee tooling then why no mention of it anywhere in a (die maintenance) mint log book anywhere. .
