I recently purchased a 1935-D Boone Commemorative Half. I noticed what I think is a Cud on Boone's lower lip; makes him look like a bulldog.........

Has anyone encountered this error or knows anything about it? I have struck out during my research. As always, your efforts are greatly appreciated. GZ

What you have there is something called a die chip, as a Cud is a die break only on the rim.

It is not a Cud - a Cud involves the coins rim associated with a die break.

I definitely see something on the upper lip in your partial photograph.

I suspect its a die chip, but can't tell by your photo if the object is incuse or proud of the surface.

Tell us about that - and if you can show photos of the full coin both sides.

To CCF! Looks like a Die Chip, not a Cud.

Thanks for your comments. I should have looked more closely, but I think the "chip" is a mere bag mark......

Based on your latest images, I don't see a die chip coin. To my eyes, it looks more like a struck-thru error (concave impression).

Loompus123,

Hello I see what Could be an Area where an Event to place, took a hit from another coin. It could be I am wrong, Your photos suggest a Possibility, It could be a Residual from a broken die.

If I look @ Daniel's ear, His cheek, I see Similar hits, No?

I also see a very Eventful appearance on this 1935-D Daniel Boone Commemorative Half dollar coin.

Looks like the commemorative has has taken Many circulation hits. I too would like to see a Full coins view, Maybe the Rim's reeds too, Thanks MD
