The strike is very off centre,

The coin has the following characteristics

Looks like a late Roman bronze coin, I don't know beyond that.

Can someone who is knowledgeable about these things comment on how common off-center strikes are for late Roman bronzes?

One seriously off-centered coin.

I do not think anyone can know how commonly they were produced. Roman coins kept in use as small change for centuries. In the iberian peninsula the visigoths did not care much about copper coinage. Then the arabs reused old roman copper coins still in circulation as discs for striking some of their feluses. But also kept using the older coins. Then the arabs also discontinue production of copper coinage for centuries. Then the christian kingdoms used poor silver coins rather than copper until the late middle ages.

In all this it is hard to know how long the old roman small change was kept in use. That which was recycled may have been the worse-looking coins and biased the ration of surviving off-centered ones.

I did try for a long time to get a better photo. I may have to invest in an SLR or something as I can't seem to make better photos on my iphone.

This forum is a huge wealth of knowledge.
jecz79: Thank you for the background information
Victor: Thank you. I'm really surprised that a close id could have been found from just a, partial, off-center, worn, strike.

Thank you all very much.
