Hey there, I have the gold version of this coin. #140/7500. I can't find another one like it other than yours.

@arg1233: Do have a specific question or questions?

I can tell you that the piece was marketed by The Jefferson Mint (a private company not affiliated with the US Mint with a HQ in Washington, DC) in 1986 and 1987, it is 14 kt gold (as noted above) and originally sold for $170. Original purchasers of the piece received a US Mint Thomas Jefferson Presidential medal (bronze; 1-5/16").

If the weight is not listed you could take it out of the capsule, put it on a scale if you have one, weigh it. Then go to scrap gold site and see how much it's 14K is worth. Or take it to a local coin store. It's likely worth melt value or a little less than melt but not much collector value.

Can you post a pic of the other side of the medal including the card is mounted to? I am wondering if there are specifications listed anywhere.
I couldn't come up with this medal anywhere to find out for myself.
You may want to take it to a coin shop for evaluation. I'd simply want to know tht composition of the medal and if it's plated or solid gold. Often things like this are plated.

Hey thanks for the thoughts on this!

This was left for me in a time capsule made by my grandpa when I was born. Everyone put something in there and I believe this was his submission. He was a mysterious fella so I was quite curious about this coin.

It came in at a half ounce.

Here's the ad I found for this coin from a newspaper clip in 86. Kinda cool.
