@coinbuyer2024, welcome.
My understanding is that the waiting rooms is not based on who got in line first. It is random. So that means being on the website 30 minutes before gains you no more advantage than someone who went to the site at 11:59.

From a US Mint marketing email: Quote: A special offering of 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins will be presented in a stand-alone auction on Thursday, December 12, 2024. These coins were struck to commemorate the 230th anniversary of America's first silver dollar, the 1794 flowing hair dollar. 230 of the 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins were produced with a "230" privy mark on the obverse. These privy-marked coins include a special numbered certificate of authenticity, signed by the U.S. Mint Director, the Honorable Ventris C. Gibson. These coins will be available for purchase through a special virtual auction scheduled to begin on December 12, 2024, at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT through Stack's Bowers Galleries. Mark your calendars and take part in this historic offering. $55K is current high bid for Coin # 1. Coin #230 current bid is $6K. . . "The very first of these privy marked coins will be accompanied by the canceled obverse and reverse dies used to strike the series, presented in a custom-built box that houses the coin and the dies."
I'm guessing 100k

Reading between the lines here is what I see ---- The mint just told us we don't want to see our customers buy the privy marked coins and sell them online to make a quick profit. We'll just have the big auction house handle it all! No sales to smuck "commoners", no returns just a big fat check from the auction company when all is said and done. Looks like this will now be the road forward with made to order rarities!

A lot more collectors wanted these than the 17,500 available, sold out in a few minutes. Some will flip them for a good profit. They lined up for hours at Thursday's Baltimore coin show to get one at the Mint's booth. Most mint canceled dies are completely obliterated, not worth much. The 1995 1996 Olympic dies just had an X through them so you could see most of the design. They have increased in value over the years. I have two of them. The first gold flowing hair coin struck offered at the auction will include the dies. It's cool to see they only have an X too. I don't think it's fair to the common collector how the mint sometimes does things, reserving a percentage of new releases to the big dealers, lists the silver flowing hair product mintage at 75K then without explanation lowers it to 50K. Having an auction for the gold 230 privy isn't fair, it favors the wealthy, that's my opinion. But I still like the silver and gold versions. We'll see how the quality is with these when more numbers come in on PCGS, NGC, how many get 70. Here are the dies.

This doesn't bode well for the 2026 250th products. No good to get excited but can't buy from the Mint. I should probably dip out of the coin hobby.

Can't blame the US Mint trying to profit off from collectors and those who have deep pockets.

Macmercury, You stated " Can't blame the US Mint trying to profit off from collectors and those who have deep pockets. " I am not against them for Anything, I would appreciate more respect and Consideration from them. My thoughts are this, I am Not frustrated and fed up with The U S Mint's New Adventure into their own Manufactured " Rarities ".. We use to decide what We as collectors wanted to collect, Decided to Be in the right spot to Try and be lucky enough to have a confirmation of success. We have Also Enrolled or Subscribed to the Same Mints for the Up and Coming Examples We Would like to Incorporate into Our Collections, Sort of a Mint to order type Change. After Many decades of collecting these Examples, The Same people that supplied us ALL with coins and Series We Love adding to each and every year, Only to find out, they have a Different direction, a Different Profit over Collector. Hitching up with a Very large Auction house to Have the maximum realized profits, I see that as a Slap in Our collective faces, To over-ride us all and go to an ebay like bidding system. I am frustrated they choose to Dis- connect Us Steady customers from the Norms, The mints and the auction houses, What they do NOT make enough printing labels, ? They Announced to US all We can Bid in the future for The newest Make the most profit for Auction examples.? Auctioning off to the highest bidders is a Very competitive, Very well watched venue that brings Many people to the bidding table for Such collectibles. I hope this is NOT the Future of The Numismatic Coins and Collectibles. ( as we know them ).
