Do you have a favorite funny coin? One of my favorites is this 1980 Soviet Union 5 rouble coin, because of its overall strangeness and the unintentional slang word.

This is a great idea for a thread. I've seen a website featuring unintentionally amusing stamp designs.

The florins and double-florins introduced by the UK in 1887 were widely criticized at the time. The reverse design was said to resemble 'tea trays and pokers' while the crown on Victoria's head was ridiculously small and looked as if it was about to fall off!

I always think that, taking into account the relative sizes of the horse and the 'dragon', that these modern Russian coins make St George look more like a bully than a hero:

I never know whether to laugh or cry at this one.

The 1951-54 George Washington Carver - Booker T. Washington US commemorative half dollar features one of the most comical - though intended to be realistic - maps I've ever seen on a coin. It features multiple misshapen state outlines and is missing the State of Delaware completely!

I am surprised that the design, as executed, was approved for use by the Commission of Fine Arts and the US Treasury/US Mint. But it was, and collectors are stuck with it!

1913 Princely State of Gwalior - ¼ Anna. On the reverse, those are dogs in the coat of arms - not porcupines.
