I love coins with a nice circulation cameo. I tend to keep any coins that I find with such an effect. Here is one of my pocket pieces I have.

its a poor photo, and its considerably more worn now, (this pic is a few months old), but you can see the circulation cameo.

C'mon y'all let's see your coins with circulation cameos.

Being completely clueless on all these terms and getting extremely excited about learning them, whats the definition of a cameo? Is it when a portion of a coin turns all one color? Like I have several normal quarters that all have a very nice black effect on them that makes them look beautiful to me thats similar to your brown. The relief that sticks out is untouched but the back ground is all a 'stained black' but not like tar or anything, just seems like general wear of some kind though I don't know enough to know what does it. Or is that something else?

*EDIT*

Found the glossary definition of cameo. Though it talks mostly of proofs I can see how this is a cameo by its contrasting. It does look cool. I should see if I can get good shots of my similar ones and see if I am right. .

I would call this more of a toning than a cameo

Oh ok. I guess that makes sense from what I read about toning though all the toning I saw posted in the toning thread was multi colored like oil in water. (Really cool lookin to boot.)

I guess toning is really any coin that looks cool to someone after 'nature taking its course' and its not PMD like being spray painted or covered in tar or something?

Looks like circ cameo to me.
Too "dirty" for toning.
Very nice no matter which label you use.

Done.

Next time, click on "Send Note to Staff" and ask for it to be moved. It'll happen quicker.

Here's a couple of my favorites. Both actually taken out of circulation in the late 50s & early 60s.

I'm not sure if this one is "circulation cameo" or just grungy, but I like it:
