I'm considering buying one or two of these coins (NOT medals) that are due to release on Nov. 14th with a scheduled production of 17,500 and a household limit of 1. I have several questions I would like opinions on....
1) If initial cost is $3,600 (my guess) is it a good/decent investment?
2) Do you think it will sell out the first day, or eventually?
3) If it doesn't sell out the first day do you think they'll lift the household limit the following day?
4) How hard will it be to get through to the mint the first hour of the sale?
5) Asuming I buy one is it a good idea to send to PCGS, NGC, or the CAC grading service?

Coins are rarely good investments and medals are even worse. US Mint products are worse still - bullion generally trades close to melt, while the mint's cost structures mean the first purchaser premium is quite steep.

Yes or no. The crystal ball is cloudy

Eventually.

They've made significant improvements in the platform. The waiting room may be annoying, but it works well. Make sure your account information, including your credit card, is correct, and try to log in just as it goes on sale for the best results.

Another crystal ball question. Generally, the registry set chase drives the chase for 70s. This will not be part of any major registry set I'm aware of and the pressure may be lower.

Gold is gold, if you just want an ounce of gold, there are places online to buy just above spot, instead of the Mint's large mark-up. Imho the primary reason to shell out for the Mint coin is because you are actually into coins and plan to keep them.

Demand will decide whether it is a good investment or not. I suspect, in the long run, it will prove to be a poor investment.

Let's see The Mark up from Spot the Mint charges is Say AVG $1,000.00 OVER spot Per Coin , While I see they are striking the coin in 24 Karat Gold it's Very Pure High Quality Gold.

The Premium the Mint charges Over spot is Too High to Absorb, Seeking a Turn over Profit, I Am Probably Wrong. So, I like one of The Member's Posted Opinion,

Corbe Stated: " Imho the primary reason to shell out for the Mint coin is because you are actually into coins and plan to keep them. "

Perfectly Worded Too.........

I really like the gold coin in this one. The silver not as much. Too bad the price is just out of control. One day I'll try to pick it up closer to spot. If I can't get it there well such is life.

I'm surprise Mint didn't mention or made any privy mark or additional Mint director signature on the gold coin!

I know this a trivial observation, but does anyone else find it odd that the mint has not been able to provide a representation of this coin on their upcoming releases page and less than 10 days from release at this writing. Yes, I know I can simply look at the silver medal and imagine it in gold.

Pics are there now. I like lettered edge coins but won't spend the money for this one.

I just got an email. Interesting, but way too expensive.

They posted pictures showing them with a privy mark, then took them down 20 minutes later.
