Australian $2 Coin Collecting Mania And Prices

If you think those ones are expensive have a look at the coloured $2 Mars coin out of the Planetary set. They go for ridiculous prices on ebay. $900 for an ungraded one and $2000 for a slabbed MS70.

They came in a set of 10 coins that went for $160 when they were released in 2017. The sets are selling for $1350 to $1550 at the moment.

Well that's just great here I was think the fire was out, then the ram release a firefighter coloured $2 and it out of stock within hours? I knew probably going to be hot, but blazing right now O.o 40k mintage is what I saw. Oh well I get me one once it dies down.

those set about 550-600 dollars that what ive seen, I try to ignore that as when it first release thats when I started to seriously pick up coin collecting, pass on the chance to buy a set. Oh well I can wait there not that rare there just highly sort after.

yes, the 2018 12 x $2 30th anniversary sets were $75 each from the RAM, starting May 2018. If 5 or more were bought they were sent registered post free.

An identicle scenario with something the RAM produced and the price went through the roof.

In August 2016 when the fabulous 12 x 50c coins Holden set in the tin, which I think is by far the best thing the RAM has ever produced, was listed on the RAM's site at $165 per complete set in the tin.. I went right through the ordering process for 5 sets. Unfortunatley, at the time, I then realised I didn't quite have the room on my plastic so I wasn't able to complete the order.

Luckily, they were listed soon after on ebay for $188 each + usually around $16 to $20 registered post. but for only a very short time. A few months later just the empty red Holden tins were being sold for up to $200. And, of course we know what price the 12th plain Holden 50c is still going for - one sold for $850 a few weeks ago. With a little patience, the buyer could have bought the complete Holden set for less then that.

Looks like it might be better to wait for the bubble to burst before closing this gap.
I missed the WWII one from earlier in the year but it's probably a lost cause now.

David I believe that unlimited mintage means that the mint basically has Carte Blanche to do what ever they feel like. The Tooth Fairy $2 was unlimited mintage and it sold out really quickly in a carded version as well as a more expensive boxed set with other garbage, anyway months later they reissued the boxsets. I suspect with an annual proof set that they would want to keep it stocked throughout the year. Apparently the gold proof set has sold out this year which mint staff have told customers is unprecedented. I think there must be a bunch of people thinking they are going to be funding their retirements with basically anything the mint has produced between 2018-20.
I did a phone order for the c mark fire coin the other day and when the lady asked how many and I said two she replied is that all with shock in her voice. they originally had a limit of 100 per customer but then brought that down to 25, yet strangely the unmarked (cheaper version) was limited to 3 per order, go figure.

I would like someone who knows what the true value is with theses coloured 2 dollars please
