I tried the local bank and they said none available now. Whatever was minted has either been released already or sent to Imperial for rolling into Cotton & Co rolls. I am still puzzled why, if they are supposed to be circulating coins, why so many were sent directly to Imperial instead of being released into circulation? Maybe due to the banks wanting to go digital (cashless), the coins the Mint had already made were deemed surplus to requirements and that is why they went to Imperial? If that is so, maybe there won't be many of the standard designs for 2024 released into circulation either? Were there any STANDARD designs for 2023 released into circulation? I know there were the junk coins for Woolies and Australia Post but were there any others? What is the future for collectors of circulating coins? Nothing but awful Woolies and Australia Post junk coins from now on?

Enormous amounts of NCLT to start collecting?
The mints will continue to churn that stuff out.

Found a battered dollar in change. Hopefully I'd find a better one soon.

I see a roll of Imperial's Cotton and Co rolls of the King coins has just sold on ebay for a whopping $157.50. Maybe news of his health issues has spooked collectors?

The rolls were selling for just over twice value and can still be bought on ebay for that same amount. Not sure why that particular roll went for such an inflated price. The final competing bidders have not bought many things on ebay before (according to their stats) so maybe they don't really know what they are doing?

I wonder which version of the King's coin will be the rarest - an uncirculated coin or one that has been rescued from circulation? As far as I know only around 3 million were minted and only some of those were released into circulation. Maybe my figures are wrong but I can't help wondering what the real value will be in those coins. I really doubt that the poor sod who paid $157 for 20 coins got value for his $. I guess we will see?

After entering the NEW ballot for the NEW 2024 Uncirculated set from RAM I have come to the conclusion that the only 2023 standard coin released was the $1 King Charles coin.
Therefore the reason of the sudden price rises for this coin.

Hi Crab Eater. The sudden price rise only seemed to be for that one roll. Other rolls are still available for a little over twice face value. Looks like you are right about the King's coin being the only standard issue released for circulation in 2023.

It's going to be interesting to see what gets released for circulation in 2024. Popcorn at the ready

There may be another head on the coin in a year or two - could be a 1939 moment .

Found a 2023 $1 mob of roos King Charles coin in today's noodle. It's the only standard design dated 2023 that I have found. I think he would have looked more 'regal' with a crown.

While getting my 5 cent roll fix at Westpac I lashed out an got $400 of $1 rolls, all were normal Prosegur papered rolls except one.

Head/Head roll , not a premium RAM roll or a non premium RAM roll, but still a RAM roll.

Nice score Crab Eater, well done. Will you open the roll or keep it intact? Just wondering what people do with non-heads/tails rolls.

Hi SallyG , as I have a jumbo bag of these coins which are H/H ,T/T and H/T, hopefully I will pass it on to someone who would like it.

I only buy H/T rolls as they are more sort after but won a non premium $2 2024 roll in the latest RAM ballot. May look to sell it at a later date? Heaps of non H/T RAM rolls still fetch a good price. Obviously less than a H/T roll though.

A roll of coins should be kept as a roll IMHO.
