Yet to see a sealed RAM bag of these coins, so far only rolls from the mint. So I am dumbfounded why someone would spend money to put a RAM roll into a Cotton and Co roll? If that is what's happening? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404754404906Imperial coins may have got rolls from the mint and changed them over ? Maybe they were able to get a 44 gallon drum of single coins and then put them in their own rolls? Imperial also sell RAM bags of all denominations . Mostly rolls though.

Description from seller: 2023 Kings Head $1.00 Cotton An Co Roll X 5 is a rare and valuable addition to any coin collection. These Australian coins feature a regal portrait of King George V on the obverse side, and a kangaroo on the reverse side. Minted in 1933, these coins are decimal currency and were produced by the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra. This listing includes two rolls of these precious coins, each containing 40 pieces. The coins are in uncirculated condition and are stored in their original cotton rolls. A must-have for any serious collector or Australian history enthusiast.
They don't know what they are selling as they were minted in 2023 not 1933 It says 5 rolls then 2 rolls with 40 pieces? $1 coins come in rolls of 20.

A seller with that much experience should know better. The description is really messed up - even calls the king George V?
Imperial have been selling Cotton and Co rolls of the kings head $1 coins for a while now. Must have received oodles of them to roll. Buyers have been paying at least twice face value for them too. Surely a roll would be reasonably easy to source from a bank at face value?

I really hope that you are rewarded for your efforts but I fear it maybe too late and they have none left. For regulars who sell new coins on ebay and have connections it would be easy to source their orders . For others , a lot more difficult. I did ask my bank before release if it was possible to order a $500 bag of rolls and was quite astounded when they obliged. I was asking the Manager of the branch not a teller.

I will give it a go but like you say it may be too late. I ordered 3 bags of rolled coins last week and received none at all so I don't like my chances with the local bank. However for those that were keen on a roll of uncirculated coins at face value they could have, and should have done what you did and ask the local bank in the first place. My main interest is in circulating coins so I am not expecting many new issues in the future if we are going to be forced into going cashless. That is why I didn't bother too much with Charles' coin. If it was supposed to go into circulation why are so many being rolled by Imperial instead of going into circulation?

Maybe it's not the seller. When listing an item on ebay a few weeks ago I was asked if I wanted AI to generate the item description. Maybe the AI bot hasn't studied much numismatics.

I tried the local bank and they said none available now. Whatever was minted has either been released already or sent to Imperial for rolling into Cotton & Co rolls. I am still puzzled why, if they are supposed to be circulating coins, why so many were sent directly to Imperial instead of being released into circulation? Maybe due to the banks wanting to go digital (cashless), the coins the Mint had already made were deemed surplus to requirements and that is why they went to Imperial? If that is so, maybe there won't be many of the standard designs for 2024 released into circulation either? Were there any STANDARD designs for 2023 released into circulation? I know there were the junk coins for Woolies and Australia Post but were there any others? What is the future for collectors of circulating coins? Nothing but awful Woolies and Australia Post junk coins from now on?

Found a battered dollar in change. Hopefully I'd find a better one soon.

I see a roll of Imperial's Cotton and Co rolls of the King coins has just sold on ebay for a whopping $157.50. Maybe news of his health issues has spooked collectors? The rolls were selling for just over twice value and can still be bought on ebay for that same amount. Not sure why that particular roll went for such an inflated price. The final competing bidders have not bought many things on ebay before (according to their stats) so maybe they don't really know what they are doing? I wonder which version of the King's coin will be the rarest - an uncirculated coin or one that has been rescued from circulation? As far as I know only around 3 million were minted and only some of those were released into circulation. Maybe my figures are wrong but I can't help wondering what the real value will be in those coins. I really doubt that the poor sod who paid $157 for 20 coins got value for his $. I guess we will see?

After entering the NEW ballot for the NEW 2024 Uncirculated set from RAM I have come to the conclusion that the only 2023 standard coin released was the $1 King Charles coin. Therefore the reason of the sudden price rises for this coin.

Hi Crab Eater. The sudden price rise only seemed to be for that one roll. Other rolls are still available for a little over twice face value. Looks like you are right about the King's coin being the only standard issue released for circulation in 2023. It's going to be interesting to see what gets released for circulation in 2024. Popcorn at the ready

There may be another head on the coin in a year or two - could be a 1939 moment .
