Here is a One Yen that I consider a scarce coin. It is a Gin counterstamped coin with an Obv. chopmark in Mint state condition.
PCGS will give a numerical grade to a Gin counterstamed coin but in this case because of the chopmark PCGS considers that damage ( code 98 designation) and will not issue a numerical grade.
U.S. chopmarked Trade dollars can be given a numerical grade by PCGS. I wish PCGS would extend the practice to other Trade dollars of the Orient as well.

Beautiful coin! Thanks for showing us.

I agree, hopefully in the future they'll change their chopmark practices for Silver Yens.
