Finally picked up this coin and filled another hole in my collection. I know there are purist and like to keep their coins "as-is", but if I see surface dirt/crud, I can't help myself. This one cleaned up with a soak in distilled water (soaked 24hrs) with a bit of lemon juice. Used a wooden toothpick - very lightly....
Aelius Caesar Denarius 136-138 AD RIC 436C, SEAR 1208.
Obverse - Bare head facing Left L. AELIUS CAESAR. Reverse - Concordia Standing left holding cornucopia and patera. High Relief. 16mm 3.6 grams.

My photo is not that great, but the details are better in hand.

I definitely prefer the original darker toning. I hope that, in time, the toning will highlight the details again—I know it will. If the dirt/encrustations came off that easily, it likely wasn't thoroughly cleaned in the first place.

Focus is still a bit soft. Maybe move back to that lime green shag carpet as your background.
