Hi,
This is a 2 Baiocchi from the short lived Roman Republic 1798-1799.

I'm not up to speed on the variations according to Numista on this coin but presumably this is just the normal version?

You can't directly compare your image with the Numista image as Numista shows a variation with TM and you have one of the non-TM versions. But your coin does seem in the realm of a reasonable official coin. If I was purchasing a coin with your pictures I wouldn't worry about it being a counterfeit.

It best fits the last entry on the Numista page, but so does the coin listed on numismaster.com and that is a different variation.

Gosh I wasn't even aware that there was a Second Roman Republic. Thanks for posting this.

They kept trying again and again. I have a 1 baiocco of the 1849 attempt.
These of 1798-1799 are nicer looking, struck.
