@Dave700x and I used to banter about the E-Clash Morgan dollars. We decided I would pick up every one I ran across if the price was "right." In honor of his encouragement and tutoring, I bid on this one recently and was able to pick it up for a decent price. It came in the mail yesterday. These are the auction photos and I was able to see the weak E clash. I've already acquired a couple of the "king" 1a 1891-O E clashes. This one is very subtle, but can be seen in this photo if you squint just right. I've also added a close-up that may show it a little better.

I was pleasantly surprised when the coin arrived. It is definitely a PL coin, I'd estimate high AU / low MS grade. The unfortunate hairlines visible in the photo are not nearly so obvious in hand. I'm guessing this would probably get an AU-58 details grade if submitted (which I don't intend to do.)

Thanks, Dave, for your kind attention to my many questions over the years. RIP.

Thank you for your comment, @gsp. I wasn't exactly sure of the attribution until she got under the microscope. It's a VAM-3a1. By far the prettiest 91-O in my collection.

Appreciate the reply, @morgans dad. These are fun to find and usually pretty noticeable with somewhat focused imaging.

I'm rooting for you, @MrP. In many cases the clash is easily seen, but in others you should look for other, more obvious markers. Another somewhat common element for these are the "cloud" clashes around the arrow tips. Keep us informed regarding your hunt.
