Hello! I found this in pocket change and have not altered this coin in any way... frankly I wouldn't know how... does anyone believe this is an altered / replica / counterfeit coin? Did I make a mistake believing it is simply Machine Doubling on this coin and not altered or counterfeit? I listed this coin on ebay with the description slightly off-center with Machine Doubling on date and post mint damage on reverse... it had 39 views, 4 watchers, and 2 bids (highest was $2.25). Then 6 hours before ending date of auction, ebay cancelled the listing and sent me an email stating:

"We had to remove your listing because it didn't follow our Replica coins and currency policy: (https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/...d=HELP1542)"

ebay asked me if it was authenticated. I told them no, why would I pay to get a coin authenticated that is of little value (I didn't expect to make much, just trying my hand out at selling in case I find something good). I took a look at a post on this forum and my coin appears to fit the critera: http://goccf.com/t/320844.

Before listing, I also found several examples of these types of coins selling on ebay, therefore, I saw no problem listing it as described. Here is an example of one such sold listing:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175499145457

I am new to coin collecting and this forum. I am trying to learn and find this forum has multiple valuable resources for performing my own research such as links I have found in other's posts to vv and wexlers, etc... I am grateful for you all, and value your feedback and expertise.
Thank you for looking and/or commenting!

Yes, this is some extreme MD on the date, as for the 'off center' I noticed that the reverse is centered - which makes this a MAD strike for the obverse. (MAD = Mis-Aligned Die)
On some of the other devices, I see lots of circulation flattening. and some minor MD.

Thank you for the reply... and the Mis-Aligned Die information! I'll remember that now.

Very cool MD and as John1 said, a "doubled master die". Here was another recent thread on it. Yours is in much better shape and shows it better.
