That is a pretty gold coin. From the rust around the staples, it might be a good idea to carefully place this in a new 2x2 and then store all of these coins in a low-humidity environment.

@spence thats what I thought too. I'll tell her!!
You mean not in a plastic bag stuffed in a basket in her living rm? lololol she doesn't fuss with them, they were her moms. But she pulled them out to show me, cuz she knows I like coins.
She listens though when I tell her to do things like don't leave them & loose ones in the ziplock bag together in a random basket lol!

Uhhh, let me drool over that price if I may!

I would be shaking audibly as I would break a $20.00 bill to buy that pretty gold on the spot...

It's a beauty, Ondiwave!
If it's been in that same holder since the "17.50" was applicable, it is certainly time to upgrade to a new 2X2. They seem to be going for a bit over 17.50 now - quite a bit, actually!

Auction prices seem to be a bit above that, mrwhatisit. But yes, I wouldn't be able to whip out a 20 fast enough to grab one at that price!

Fantastic piece, but
I hope that line from the truncation of the neck to the rim is not a scratch.

Well y'all, my moms friend gifted me this coin for christmas this year!!!

I have put it in a new 2x2 as recommended. I looked at it with my microscope before placing in 2x2. It almost looks like theres doubling, but I'm not sure if thats even possible on a coin of this age? I didnt see any information about doubling via a google search and thought I would ask here.

Here are some pictures of what I saw.

Wow, what a fantastic gift, Ondiwave!
I'm wondering if the die / hub was re-cut? Not sure how they did it back then.
