Too bad it's just a shed-job.

PMD shed job; most probably two coins hammered together. Would still be accepted by a vending machine, and still worth face value.

The crosscutting 'rim' in the middle of the host coin is a dead giveaway.

Quote: At least it will still spend like two dollars. That depends on whether or not it still passes a vending machine check. If it's been flattened too much by the squeezing, it might not meet acceptable parameters any more. I'm also reluctant to send a coin like this back out into the wild... because inevitably, it'll end up in the hands of some poor sap who thinks it's something rare and special, and it finds its way back onto the coin forums and/or ebay. I'd rather send it to the bank, where (hopefully) they do their job and send it back for destruction, rather than reissue it.

Speaking of "shed jobs"; I came across this coin on ebay. The seller even stated she was not sure if it was a genuine error of if it was the result of having been stuck in a vice! Not hard to work out what the reality is. Anyway there were 5 bidders making 15 bids on it with the winning bid $61!!! The winning bidder even left feedback stating that they would be happy to "buy from her again". ebay even state that the seller is "one if ebay's most reputable sellers". So, looks like "shed jobs" can be quite profitable if you are that way inclined. Have a look at https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/166376848235 and see what you can turn a 5c piece into.

Yes Sally, there's a fortune to be made selling "rare error" coins on ebay.
