I would quite like one of these (like half the people on ebay apparently) so how much would you recommend I pay? Is ebay the best place to get something like this? Thanks

ebay has fees so 120 to 145 for the carded version at the moment sometimes you might be able to get it for 80 100 carded again on a private deal (gumtree or FB group) usually a collector or some one offload a collection. However hard to obtain and hard to maintain condition wise. Lower grade or circulation coins maybe 50 to 100 range.

That being said slabbed are normally auctioned and on ebay go for 350-550 ea top MS grades.

ebay is probably easiest (especially now as I don't think there are any shows happening). Not sure what the going rate is but the coloured two dollars coins seem pretty popular - ebay sold listings is probably as good a price guide as anything.

Interesting to see what they go for in the years ahead, same with the purple Queens Coronation Coin, ridiculous feeding frenzy prices,i got nearly A$40 each for mine last year,i couldn't resist,i don't really care what they go for in the future, banked a tidy(huge) profit as they were in circulation up our way.

But the listing came up under sold listings in advanced search so I can only assume the seller renegged on the deal. If it had been pulled it wouldn't appear as a sold item.

I doubt sold as seller most like going to reneg, when they know what they go for normally. It only if there is no prior price maybe it go for face or retail.

I would think that there would be a market out there for fake pad painted coins.
One of the most opportunistic examples I could think of would be the
2012 Remembrance Two Dollars pad printed onto a plain genuine coin.

That coin is a fake.
The paint job looks too thick.

Sellers description says it all.
"2012 red poppy Two Dollar $2 Coin Remembrance Day Red Poppy. Circulated..appears to have been painted ,.coin is in excellent condition but is the raised un painted one .this is how I found it ,not trying to scam anyone."
