I purchased some silver on another forum through PayPal last Sunday. The seller waited until Wednesday to ship the package. I was forwarded the tracking information via PayPal on Wednesday August 2. Thursday I contacted the seller to inquire about the shipment. He said that he shipped the package. Today, the tracking information is still showing "preshipment". So, it appears a label was created. But, the package never actually shipped. Has anyone else been in this situation? I contacted the seller again and I have not received a response. PayPal recommended a claim. Any suggestions?

The seller was very adamant about using regular PayPal. Thankfully, I gave him payment via regular PayPal. Everything seems legitimate. I'm just wondering if it's a glitch in the USPS system. I like giving coin guys the benefit of the doubt. And, he has all kinds of posts and badges on another forum.

I have several times received packages where the USPS tracking still just shows "label created"

That is very reassuring! I thought it was lost or never sent. Thank you!

Quote: I have several times received packages where the USPS tracking still just shows "label created" Yup. Not recently, but it has happened to me a few times before. Not with coins, but other online orders. Most often around birthdays and the Holidays when you really want to panic.

Well, you have a problem. Just as "preshipment" the parcel was NEVER entered into the scanning network. It will be to USPS as never picked up, hence no claim as lost can be made. Seller should reimburse you, period. If shipment does arrive, repay the seller, keep in contact with them, forget PO. (Former Rural Mail Carrier)

Well I've probably burned a bridge now that I've made it an issue with this seller. I was just concerned because the PayPal clock is ticking. And, I'm sure if I waited too long, PayPal would advise me that I'm out of the window of opportunity to file a claim. Does anyone know the timeframe for PayPal claims outside of ebay? I'm guessing it's10 business days.

You can file a PayPal claim for some ridiculously long period of time. Something like 90 days, or even longer.
Patience is a virtue.

I've sent packages that never got scanned in until they reached the destination city. USPS tracking isn't perfect, but the shipment usually gets there. I'd guess you'll get it by Monday.

USPS tracking is far from perfect even if the employees are doing everything correctly.
Yes, you have quite a long time for filing a PayPal claim so, I'd give it a while and see what happens.
Most times I get pretty thorough tracking info but, sometimes, it will show "At Origin Facility" and then "Delivered".
Go figure.

Thank you for your input everyone. I'll chalk this one up to paranoia. Magically after raising a stink with everyone, the tracking is now showing Monday delivery. It was probably just a glitch in the system. I will wait to reverse the PayPal claim until after I have received the package since the claim cannot be reopened.

No need to panic. The post office scans dropped off packages at their leisure...... and sometimes not at all when they are dropped off. You have to have a bit of patience. I have received packages before that arrived in my mailbox before tracking showed it was ever shipped.

Always better to wait than jump the gun and start causing a stink over stuff like this. Hopefully you learned a lesson here.
