I got this guy from my grandparents as a birth day present. It seems to be a pretty nice detector for a beginner.

Guess what the first thing I found was? An old welding torch!

Nickel collector,I just got back from the beach with that exact same detector! I got it last year and haven't had a ton of time to really get the knack until this past couple weeks and it does seem to be a very awesome first timer detector-I'm just now getn used to the settings and able to filter out the bottle caps and tinfoil-more practice will definitely help tho. I found 4 coins this evening of no worth but was exciting just to be able to almost certainly know I had a coin from the beeps before I dug and I was right all 4x so going forward should see better results as I was spending too much of my time digging up worthless garbage...

By filtering out foil you're also filtering out gold......if you're digging foil, pulltabs, etc then you're still in the gold zone. I only filter out iron and dig the rest.
