Welcome to the VERY first season of the price guessing game for ancient coins:

Ancients! Guess their Prices!

Simple: guess the price of a purchased ancient coin and the closest guess wins!

RULES

- Ancient coins for this contest will be defined as: coins from any culture from the beginning of coin minting (around 7th century BC), to 491 AD. Byzantine coins from 491 to 1453, can participate as well.

- Contest will last 10 rounds

- Only one guess per round. You are allowed to go over. Winning guess will earn the player 10 points, next closest two members will receive 8, third closest two guesses will get 6, and fourth closest two guesses will get 4. All other guesses will receive 2 points (even duplicates). Those that have submitted coins will automatically receive 8 points when their coin is presented. Only duplicate guesses can be edited, and if a non-duplicate guess is edited, no points will be awarded. If at the end of the contest there is a tie, I will provide a coin for the bonus round to determine the winner.

- Guesses over $30 will go by dollar increments, from $10 to $30: 50 cent increments, and under $10: 25 cent increments

- Rounds will last 3 days from the time the coin is posted. Depending on host availability, hours and days that rounds start and end may vary, but I will try to the best of my abilities to adhere to the three days.

- Coins submitted cannot have been part of an uncleaned lot (although a coin bought dirty then later cleaned is fine).

- The member with the most points at the end of the season wins for the season.

- To encourage participation, you do not have to have submitted a coin for this contest or know anything about ancient coins to play. So bring in them guesses

I suppose I'll be the first to submit a guess. It's a beautiful coin. Love the lion.

hi dougsmit => ummm, I bought the coin as a "siglos" ...

=> it weighs 4.95 grams (NOTE => a siglos "should" be 5.4 - 5.6 grams, but I guess that wear-n-tear over the past 2,500 years must have rubbed-off 1/2 a gram?)

... sorry if I wasn't supposed to step-in and answer, Jango (but I'm not the type of dude that waits around patiently)
