Yep that's Coin Mart for ya.

It's always been a back and forth debate. Some people say they're not a third party grading company as they only grade their own coins, so they would be a "first party grading service" however a few years back someone emailed them and they had a submission form with prices for "send in grading"

Just another "basement" slabbing company. But no matter what grading is subjective

Much of their grading is pretty accurate. The prices, on the other hand....

It is always sketchy when people are grading their own. I've bought off them before and they are great to deal with.

Grades look reasonably accurate on the ones I looked at, but a pretty small sample. It would be nice to see another hard slab service in canada. Maybe they will gain acceptance.

I think it's pretty hard to be considered legitimate when everything you slab is something you are selling yourself. Even if they are doing a good job with the grading there will always be a perceived bias. Imho they would be better off doing the service on everything except their own product. ie: not sell anything in their own slab. Then they might be considered legitimate some day.

And seriously Dave, neon yellow?

Isn't that listing in violation of ebay's "Don't use Sheldon grades for unrecognized slabs" policy?

Yes, it DOES violate their policy, but ebay does squat.

That seller has over 4,000 listings in violation of ebay's prohibited item rules.

Does anyone disagree with the AG-3 grade? Or you just hating on ebay's largest seller of Canadian coins?

Coin Mart grading is actually quite accurate by Canadian standards and more consistent than either ICCS or CCCS.
But the grade is not the issue here.
