We had a furry purry shelter rescue, she lived with us for 16 years.
We still miss her.
When my daughter is ready, she will eventually get another shelter rescue, from the RSPCA.

When you have lost that furry someone, and still have plenty to give, you eventually develop the need to give some more to another furry purry, who may be down on their luck.
This time, she wants a male cat preferably desexed, so there won't be any unwanted kittys.
Why a male cat?
She wants to call it FURGUS

A new attachment will develop all over again.
Critically important for those people who live alone.

My heart breaks for you. My furry children are everything to me and I have felt the pain you're feeling more often than I care to think about. You were both lucky to have each other for the time that you had together. Stay strong and remember the good times.

My first time seeing this post. I am very sorry for your loss my friend. Our kitty Lynxsy is our whole world.
Kiss them, hug them, love them. They know. Tiki knew. Believe me :)

Thank you for the support. It was very sad, but he's in peace now. We cherished all of our time with him, before he was put down.

Just saw this. Sorry for your loss. I know losing a pet can be hard. They are like our children.

We lost a kitty yesterday. His name was Stubby. We had him for over 10 years and I was about the only person he trusted. He passed in peace in his sleep and is now buried in a place of honor in our garden. Rest in peace Stubby you will be missed.

I just saw this post for the first time. It looks like you and I went through the same sadness last summer.

Right before I moved to a new locale we had to put down our cat, Brookie, due to cancer. As you know, there is a hole inside that will never be filled again. But the good memories of good times keep them alive in our hearts nonetheless. I brought Brookie with me to the new locale and buried her here. I didn't want to leave her "alone."

My condolences also to you montcollector. I hope you are granted the strength you need during this time.

Earle42, wow. My condolences to you. I know what it's like to lose a cat. It's not fun, but we'll always remember and cherish the good times we had with him. Thank you for the support! I appreciate it.

I am indeed sorry for your loss. Animals love unconditionally (well, maybe not ALL of the cats I've had, lol) and too many people dismiss the loss of someone else's pet. I've heard a lot of, "Well it was just a dog, why's she/he acting like they lost their parent?"
But they are our best friends and deserve the best life ever.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this and I hope you keep your head up. One day, when you're not thinking about it, another will find you that needs you. Nothing can replace them individually but it'll get a bit easier with time. My heart goes out to you and Tiki
