I am indeed sorry for your loss. Animals love unconditionally (well, maybe not ALL of the cats I've had, lol) and too many people dismiss the loss of someone else's pet. I've heard a lot of, "Well it was just a dog, why's she/he acting like they lost their parent?"
But they are our best friends and deserve the best life ever.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this and I hope you keep your head up. One day, when you're not thinking about it, another will find you that needs you. Nothing can replace them individually but it'll get a bit easier with time. My heart goes out to you and Tiki

Thanks Coop! Once again, full of useful information! I must ask though...what are 1960's cellos? Are they cellophanes made in the 60's or did you mean 1960's nickels that are in cellophane?
I too much prefer the older, natural toning. I was watching your videos and absorbing information last night. I wish there were more written explanations but I probably need to read some books for that.
Also, I live in the suburbs of New Orleans. I'm sure the sulfur is plentiful here! #128563; But does that make it good or bad for coin exposure to air? Thank you!! You're awesome!

To John and other replier,
I don't consider it a hobby. I consider it expanding my knowledge and possibly, with enough studying, maybe something that leads to a part time job or side career. I don't invest much money at all. I work with a cash register and have lots of access to neat coins and bills that are just floating around unloved.
And who's to say I can't make money doing it? I'm sure your and my opinions vary greatly as far as the word, "rich" goes. I am already rich in the sense that I gave birth to the most loving, precious, living thing ever. A little money certainly wouldn't hurt that. #10084;#65039;
Thank you guys! Have a great day!

-Melissa

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa and I live in the greater New Orleans area, USA.
My father got me interested in coins as a small child but I'm now revisiting the subject. I'm certainly learning a lot along the way! The knowledge is infinite and that's why I chose to join your community.
I hope I make friends here and am welcomed even though my knowledge is still minimal in comparison to all there is out there with coins. I'd like to learn as much as possible and be friends with people who share my interest.
Thank you all in advance!

Spreading the love,
Melissa

Thank you Jon for taking the time to reply to my questions in such an enlightening way.
Funny thing, considering I spend more time with coins than I do sleeping, I wouldn't consider it just a, "Hobby." Yet that was the only thing you put in quotations.
Please don't quote me saying something I did not.
Thank you! Have a most lovely day!

Thank you guys for replying and the knowledge!
Oh wow, Coop! I'd love to have any of those toned coins in your video, they're so beautiful! Love the tones. And good job on the video!
Do you really think the one I have could turn into something like that? If so, what would be the best place to keep it? Would air exposure be good or bad?
Also, I'm raising a 14 month old little girl and I'm kinda poor. Is it something I should sell or hold on to for her? I have a small collection I'm starting for her but I'd also like to be able to pay for good schooling if possible. So I've been trying to teach myself more about coins and bills to help a little. There's a ton to learn!
Regardless though, would this be worth something now? Better to wait? Does it need to be graded? Reported to anyone or something like that?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks again for all your patience and kindnesses. -Melissa

Hi guys and ladies! Does anyone know anything about this nickel? I've googled a ton and can't seem to find anything. It does look to me like those experimental quarters they did in '99. The obverse is more brilliant than the reverse and it has variations but it is all over the coin. That leads me to believe it was a mint error but I'm just not sure at all? Sorry, I'm kinda new to this. Tried to get okay pictures to give it justice.. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you! I'm learning but it's like a never-ending college course. I have many strange coins and will try to get my microscope to work right and post more and clearer pics. What are you thinking as far as closer pics go for this coin? Lettering, obverse, reverse? Mint mark/date? I know it's not in great condition. Could certainly use a friend called Eyes4error! :)

Hi! Sorry, I'm kinda new to this but was wondering if anyone could tell me if this dime pinch is a true error or post damage? Also, it seems to be double struck in some places. The date possibly or the 's'? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
