I just wanted to share this for educational purposes only. This would be a great post for starters. This coin is in a Very Late Die State because of all of the mushiness and what we call die flow lines. Die flow lines are these little lines that go outwards to the edge of the die when the die starts to age. As the die starts to age, the die starts to slowly break down over time ( Die Deterioration also known as Die Attrition). Eventually, failures start to happen such as Die Breaks, Die Cracks, Broken Die Posts, Die Clashes, and Die Chips. Die states help tell what state (condition) the die was in when it struck the coin. There are 4 different types of states. Early Die State, Mid Die State, Late Die State and the very last is Very Late Die State. This is all normal wear and tear on the die and doesn't carry any value over face value. This die was at the end of its life when this coin was struck as you can tell by the outward stretching of the letters. All credit goes to Coop, Crazyb0, and CoinMasters for creating the images that I'm going to use. I hope this will help you out. Thank you guys for educating me as well!

You're very welcome CJ18850! Thank you for checking it out! I tried my hardest to explain things easily. This is just what I knew out of my head. This is what I call a brush-up. If I need to correct anything, just tell me and I'll correct it. I'm not an expert, but just a knowledgeable person.

Thank you very much Crazyb0! I tried my absolute hardest to explain all of these things and tried to keep it as simple as possible. I'm glad you like it. And I do agree that it needs to get bookmarked.

I am still new and consider myself pretty naked with knowledge. There is so much involved and some many different things to know. When learning about error coins I jumped right into coin roll hunting and literally believing every other coin I looked at had an error on it. I assume this is the case for a lot of people (just a personal assumption). It would have served me better to jump into educating myself first but hey that's what life's about living and learning. This post was really helpful for me. Having images (and not just of coins but of the process) for me is so so helpful. When just reading about what is what and why....etc, its easy to get confused. This Thread left no room for confusion. Very very helpful for me.

Thank You for posting this even if was a year ago :)
