Gidday all. I am new to this forum as well as collecting. Got the bug now so no turning back.

Trying to get my head around the coin gradings. Lot's of good info on here. I am intersteed to see what this 20 cent piece would grade at.

Also is it typical for the wavy 2 variety to be uneven on the rims as in this picture.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen enough 1966 wavy 20's to be able to comment re the rim question, but it appears to be a very nice wavy to me. I'm no good at grading either, but it has a bit of 'chatter', so that's a small negative.

Just my humble opinion though.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Be very happy with either of those estimates.

You know Nevol, I didn't even notice her acne(chatter)until I took the photo. I know were not supposed to clean them but I'm thinking of trying Clearasil.

The Queens cheek and hair above the ear on the obverse and the "20" on the reverse are the high points on this coin.
With the excessive "Chatter" on the obverse in these areas and some moderate "Chatter" on the reverse could be viewed by PCGS/NGC as wear so this could grade anywhere between AU55- MS62.
There is Far too much chatter on this coin for it to grade any higher than MS62.

The light source for the photo was at a shallow angle which makes the bagging look worse.
The extra rim visible at the top of the reverse is common to this date and is a high point.
It appears t have no contacts.

Here is a 64 for comparison.

Thanks Echidna. You and Trout both make excellent points. Shows just how subjective grading is. It's hard to get my head around as a novice.

If I bought this coin "Sight Unseen" I would be bitterly disappointed with it when I had it "In Hand".
For a MS64 grade coin it is pretty nasty looking with that big "Divot" in the Queens cheek.
PCGS May be good But they don't get it right every time
