I keep a large portion of my collection in 2x2 carboard holders and stored in the 20 pocket binder pages. Never used to be much of a problem until recently. Perhaps it is the quality of the 2x2's these days. I find that they work well for thinner coins up to quarter size but when you get to thicker coins like halves and dollars, the mylar film often separates when stapling them closed. For this reason I use the large dollar size for my halves and large dollars are usually placed in flips. I find it better to use and oversized denomination 2x2 rather than the specified size for many coins.

I haven't had that problem with Cowen's 2X2s.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I h8 2x2s with a passion and will never use them.
My loose single coins that do not go in albums are
stored in small zip-lock poly bags, which are easy
to use and re-use (no nasty staples !), cheap, and
inert. Try 'em; you will like them.

Never any problems for me...maybe the manufacturer/brand. But I do like storing my dimes in cent holder..cents in nickels, all other denominations in the proper holders.

Side note, you have your email locked, send me an email for an update on your needed Denver circ. set.....most of your list is crossed off...just that pesky LD82 zinc and a couples quarters.

I am in the process of moving away from them. I have been shifting my 2x2 coins into appropriately sized Dansco pages. It is a work in progress.
