Perhaps the silver streak on the reverse was a factor in grading it a 61 (Under graded in my opinion compared to PCGS Photograde). A 61 shows not fully struck stars on the obverse and flat spots in the hair. This dime looks much better. PCGS values for 61= $42,500, 62= $47,500, 63= $55k, and 64=$75k. Given the large price swings I wonder if it is worth resubmission to PCGS. Is this your coin? |

@VTcollector, I live near them and have dealt with them on numerous occasions . They have always been straight and fair with me so no worry that it genuine. Just a super worn piece grading PO1. Curious though what the weight turns out to be. |

Gee, about all I can make out is that it has the correct type 2 reverse for 1877. Can't tell what type obverse due to extreme wear. You didn't happen to purchase it from First State Coins in Dover, DE. did you? |

You would have to be comfortable with your own grading capabilities to be able to agree or disagree with a TPG assessment on this one. Big swings in value through the different grades. MS-63 is 55K and MS-64 is 75K. A lovely coin but a large risk for a subjective opinion on grade. |

Hello Folks. I must admit that as an old timer I am not very computer saavy. I notice that there is a tool bar above most members posts that allows you to email a message to that member. I do not have that icon on my toolbar. How do I unlock my email and pin that icon to my toolbar so that others can message me if interested. |

That is incredible! And I thought I was the lucky one when I got a flying eagle cent in change from a local store about a year ago. You win! |

I keep a large portion of my collection in 2x2 carboard holders and stored in the 20 pocket binder pages. Never used to be much of a problem until recently. Perhaps it is the quality of the 2x2's these days. I find that they work well for thinner coins up to quarter size but when you get to thicker coins like halves and dollars, the mylar film often separates when stapling them closed. For this reason I use the large dollar size for my halves and large dollars are usually placed in flips. I find it better to use and oversized denomination 2x2 rather than the specified size for many coins. |

ICG really isn't a well respected TPG compared to the top 3. The PCGS site has a $60 value on MS-63FBL in a PCGS slab. You could crack it out and put it in a self slab such as the lighthouse slabs or try to polish the lens of the ICG slab as others have suggested. I know from auto headlight restoration that you can wet sand the plastic lens down to 2000 grit and then spray it with UV clear coat. Either way I suggest purchasing some of the clear sleeves to prevent any of your slabbed coins from such damage in the future. |
