I h8 2x2s with a passion and will never use them.
My loose single coins that do not go in albums are
stored in small zip-lock poly bags, which are easy
to use and re-use (no nasty staples !), cheap, and
inert. Try 'em; you will like them.

Thanks for the appreciation, jbuck and hondo.
Like jbuck's, that 1$ is a 7070 hole filler.
The quality and diversity of many of the coins
being posted here never fails to impress.

It depicts a knight giving his cloak to a peasant. An act of chivalry celebrated on a coin. Not a terribly scarce issue.

how about Completely Crooked?

Headline: Chyneeze criminals create counterfeits constantly confusing coin collectors chasing cheap captivating choices!

This is a zero sum game and we are all to blame for creating a market for the unscrupulous to exploit.

Sorry I have not been contributing much lately.. life keeps getting in the way,
and much of my collection accumulation is unphotographed.

mcshilling, your '1948' is gonna be a tight fit in that roll of wheat cents.

hondo, I love that model coin.. maybe the very first bi-metallic!
I will post mine when I can get a good shot of it.

For today, havva look at a well worn Mexico 8 reales.

Acetone has no effect on toning.

That said, I like the coin as is. It may look ugly to some, but to my eye
it has that undefinable quality called 'character'.
SLQ is a tough series in upper grades. Quote me a take-it-home price.

My bank (PNC) does supply halves upon request, but only in full $500 boxes.
Also it can take several requests and several weeks for the box to show up.
The box I finally did get contains lots of BU 2024P, 2023P, 2020P and waay too many abused specimens from the 1970s and '80s.

I received my first SBA in change a few weeks ago.
Did not realize it until I got home, but the clerk mistook it for a quarter.
And it was probably spent as such.

In v.2, why is there an 1860s shield nickel where a 1938 Jefferson should be?

I agree the Kennedy albums are a fun project.
Some banks will special order a full box for you if you have $500 to play with.
It is a great way to keep up with dates, and find an occasional silver, or even a proof, which I have done.
Beware though, you may need a wheelcart to tote that box to your car!

@barryg Your proofs are just stunning. I admire anyone who can collect on that level.
Owning treasures like that would make me more nervous than a skinny-dipper in a 'gator pond.

More big silver:
1869 USA dollar:

1869 France 5 francs (much nicer than my previous 1870):

1869 Chile 1 peso:

btw I too am an OFEY collector; focusing on crown size silver coins when available,
or those pieces at least 30mm in any metal when Big Silver is too expen$ive.
For those curious, this also (partially) explains the user name.
