Hello!

Does anyone know if the discolouration on this 2009 $2 is a minting error?

Its so perfectly centered and round! Its about the same size as the smaller centers on some of the coloured $2's. Also it seems to go over the indigenous elder but under the '2'. Curious.

Hi Ham and

I can't see how this could have occurred in the minting process. Being centred and round would just be coincidental as coloured $2 coins didn't appear until 2012.

There does however appear to be a small lamination error on the obverse.

It might have been glued to something hence the discoloration.

Oooooo Coaster, a lamination error! Interesting, thank you! I didn't even really look at the obverse!

And glue, I like that theory...that'd make more sense than a minting error.

Thanks all! I'm new to collecting, as a little hobby, and so far loving it!!

To CCF! Might be glue or something. It's PMD.
