John1 I agree... the thing is 1922 swiss 5 franc coins seem to go pretty high. Hence why $48 seemed pretty reasonable.

The 1923 coin looked a little nicer, and completed the set for me, unless you count the exceedingly rare proof-like and dot varieties...

So I grabbed it for $48, as well.

So far as getting 1924-1928

I'll just keep my eyes open.

If you know where these coins can be had cheaper... I am all ears, sincerely.

From all of this work, you should get a fair idea on how to arrive at a fair value for each coin that you bought.

How accurate value-wise will depend on the amount of work and enthusiasm invested. and how much you have learned from a numismatic viewpoint.

And if your $297 was well invested.

The best acid test to see if you have invested well, is to try to sell the coins once you have it in hand. Then truly you shall know or else it's all hearsay.

Some collectors have no intention of selling any of their coins in the near to medium term, so that in case of the coins bought by the OP, it becomes an exercise in justifiable valuation only.

That is the sort of due diligence that we all need to to do, before the purchase of any valuable coin.

If you have a more current knowledge of current numismarkets, we can make more efficient purchases via ebay, or coins shows or at LCS's, where you have to rely on recent market activity, and that well memorized at the time of purchase.

Update- seller gave me another $4.50 off upon shipping!!! This drops the cost per ounce a touch and aside from the coins I showed photos of makes this a bullion purchase with decent to great premiums, depending on the coin in question.

I still don't see how those .7234 swiss herder 5 francs are drawing more interest here.

They aren't exactly easy to find.

I am pleased as punch, though I had no idea there was that much difference in the reverse of the 1922 vs. The 1923 swiss 5 franc.

In our business, it is necessary to be aware of the prices of coins. In order not to pay too much to another charlatan who is ready to sell you anything and more expensive. But I also don't see anything bad to overpay a little and have a coin that you've been dreaming about for a long time. I like your shopping. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos.
