I'm a noob and I'm just trying to learn about the differnt kinds of error coins and how to know if it's an error coin or not an error and could it be Worth something. If it's not an error coin then why?

Looks like dipped in acid to me. Not a mint produced error.

I agree, looks like strong acid damage. It did not leave the mint looking this way. No premium, sorry.

Agree, it didn't leave the mint this way, but it's a odd-ball for sure.

Maybe even some heat damage from torches - do you have a weight for the coin?

It looks like something brushed onto the surface of the coin. Maybe an acetone bath would help reveal what's going on.

Looks like an altered coin. No premium for a damaged coin.

I ponder; plating a metal's surface with an alien metal sometimes requires a great deal of thought, skill, chemistry, machinery, and experience. Sometimes, I ponder, it's no simple operation. I ponder that -- maybe sometimes -- it doesn't get done right and in the realm of time, sometimes one of the two metals files for divorce.
