My guess is a die chip. Eager to hear what others say.

Yes, we call them die chips here in the USA. A Cud must involve the rim.

Die chips, but arranged like that they look a little like clumps of snow settling on the lower part of the letters.

This is a good example of a die chip error since the coin has multiple large chips, its likely worth somewhere between $2 - $5.
Good find!

I'd say it is a die event and worth just face value. There would be thousands of these from each die pair. Why would a premium be attached for something that is a common find. The value for this is know what it is, and you can move onto to the next coin that maybe worth a lot more than this one. (But I'm a variety purist)

And a lot of others would have been taken advantage of. They would feel like this:

The $2 - $5 value I quoted is directly taken from ebay sales of die chips over the past two months. Believe it or not, there are people out there who collect these and are willing to pay for them. I constantly see people here telling people that minor errors like die chips and misaligned dies are worthless, which sales records show is simply not the case. Is $2 or $3 alot of money? No, but it is more than the 5 cent face value of the coin!
