I would be curious about the weight. The circular lines make me think this has been on a lathe to remove the reverse image.

I never saw the point to this. I see marks on a small percentage of coins, and I seldom see the same marks twice. If the goal is to skip past a coin previously examined, then it seems like the effort to mark all coins as they are examined outweighs the benefit of occasionally examining a coin twice. Maybe I am wrong.

I found this one while CRH. There appears to be a die crack/break running right along the base of Kennedy's neck. Because the line is so jagged, it seems like this may have crossed from a crack to a break. It is also possible it is not what I think it is. Either way, I am open to all input. Thanks!

Quote:
I thought they were scratches too but when looking at pictures (4th,5 & 6th from last) the scratch appears to come upward from the coin with the "cud" like residue protruding outward. If that makes sense. On the other hand, the die markers are there under the B, the window and not sure about the nose for DDR1

I believe what you are seeing is a deep scratch. You can see the recessed portion of the scratch in the middle of the raised area. The raised area on the sides of the scratch is where the metal was pushed up as the scratch was forming. If it were a die crack there would not be any recessed areas in the middle of the crack line. Hope that helps!

@Chase007 - I checked the reverse, and no crack is visible, unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion, however!

I found this one while CRH. I have encountered this die break before, but this is the strongest example I have of it.

I found this one while CRH. This is the second version of this particular DDO I have found now. This one appears to be FS-50-1971-D-101 from the Cherry Picker's Guide, but please let me know if you disagree. Compared to my other example, the doubling is just a little sharper on this one, especially at the top of the "U".

I found this one while CRH. I could not find a match on Wexler's or VV, so this is probably MD, but please confirm. All input is welcome. Thanks!

I found this one while CRH. I was ready to drop it in the spend bucket as PMD, but it looks like there is a "D" in the neck that matches the size and shape of the "D" in GOD". There is obviously a lot of PMD on this coin, so I am having problems separating what happened when the coin was stamped from damage that occurred later. I am curious on what people think happened to this coin at the mint and whether it has anything that makes it worth keeping? As always, all input is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!
