I know this question is too general but in the opinion of long time collectors do you see a trend of current coin prices stable, falling or rising. I know this also depends on what coins (gold, commememorative, type etc). Just want this opinion in terms of my buying options. Thoughts? Are there good sources to see historic coin prices?

Most Collectors here agree that collecting coins is not a way to invest monetarily. Profits from purely collecting are few and far between. If you are smart and buy a coin below trends or which is under graded then you may be able to sell for a profit. Yes you can try and buy silver/gold bullion when its low and sell when its higher.
But buying coins PURELY as a means for investment is not smart financially, there are better investments.
If you do not care about the profit margin, then yes collecting coins you enjoy and your profit is just that your joy.

My opinion and it's just that is that prices are lower for most coins compared to a few years ago. Please note I don't slabbed coins and I don't buy super high graded coins (like MS 65+).
The upper echelon of the market operates differently than the lower cost circulated area. I have seen that prices for most lower priced coins have hit close to melt for some coins so I would expect those to increase.
But as has been said, collect for enjoyment not for profit.

It always seems that the coins I already have are falling in price, but the ones I want are rising.

It's far to broad of a question for any real meaningful answer as prices are both rising, falling, and staying the same all at the same time depending on what you are inquiring about.

It depends on your time horizon. You said "current coin prices" so I assume this means very short term. I don;t have a clue how to answer that, since I am not in the business, but some others here should be able to answer what has been going on in, say, the last 6 months. If you are asking about the last 10-15 years, the answer is up for high grade collectible coins for most types in dollars of the day, but down for common coins. If you are interested in modern bullion coins, you don't even need to pose the question here. You just need to understand how buying and selling those items works, and how much each transaction costs, to figure out whether/when it's worth it. As for historic collectible coin prices, there are some databases for auction prices of slabbed US coins that you can access on the web, and which will give you historical data for those types and grades https://www.PCGS.com/auctionprices. If you're quantitatively inclined, the numbers are there for the last 10 to 15 years, and you can draw your own conclusions if you know what you're doing from a probability and statistics viewpoint. Though, as they say, "past performance is no guarantee of future returns." As with ANY investment.

However, my opinion is coin prices will take a massive drop in value soon so to be smart sell as many as you can to me. I'll give you rock bottom prices which will be still better than nothing. Just pack up all your coins and send to me. I'll take the price fall for you. In reality I haven't seen coin prices fall much in well over 60 years of collecting. And so what if they do? It's a hobby not an investment.

For what I am buying, prices are coming down. However, your mileage will vary.

Just goes to illustrate that you can't make a blanket statement about prices as a whole. Some areas are up, some are down, and some are flat. And at different times what series is doing what changes.
