Hi, I have been roll hunting for many years, and I will tell you I have found lots of 9, 10, 11,14, 15. so much now that I have stopped keeping them. The quarters were part of the PL sets so now people are cutting them up and spending them.
also look for the 2001 Nickle no p its out there and I've found enough I am not keeping any more. While your looking at nickels, look for the 1990 bare belly and the 1996 attached 6 (you will find the bare bellies but the attached 6 is hard to find)

Miguel, the one you are looking at is a commemorative from 2017, its the 150th anniversary of the creation of Canada. the coin is not a circulation coin, it is NCLT 99.999 pure silver. The RCM released in 2017 a line of pure silver coins recreating the animal series from 1967. |

If this coin was silver, I don't know how it could be. I am not 100% sure but the philly mint doesn't do silver coinage correct? even if it did, what could it be a dime planchet? if so a silver dime would be heavier correct? secondly the amount of material in a dime is less than what is in a cent, so there would be noticeable difference in thickness and some stretching of the design.
most likely this is plated.

welcome to roll hunting in Canada, because of the ARP the amount of "older" coins is dwindling every day. I have the opposite problem with Pennies, all of my pick up banks want me to start taking pennies again (I quit pennies a year ago). I doubt you want to pay the shipping for boxes to be sent from BC (I would imagine it would be somewhere around $35+)

Hi Brooklyn, I don't have any answers for you, but the people who may will probably ask you some basic questions like the weight and dimensions. if you could perhaps take another picture with a known coin like a dime or a quarter for better reference.
this may not be a coin but a token. it also may be a copy of an original. |

Most Collectors here agree that collecting coins is not a way to invest monetarily. Profits from purely collecting are few and far between. If you are smart and buy a coin below trends or which is under graded then you may be able to sell for a profit. Yes you can try and buy silver/gold bullion when its low and sell when its higher.
But buying coins PURELY as a means for investment is not smart financially, there are better investments.
If you do not care about the profit margin, then yes collecting coins you enjoy and your profit is just that your joy. |

I have done some searching in the USA, I would have to say that CWR are usually better than machine wrapped rolls. if you do not have an account with the bank then they have every right to refuse you if you ask for boxes, if you have an account they will likely be more accommodating but still may not be able to help you out.
I don't think any financial institute will allow you to come in with a box or more of coins and exchange for bills unless you have an account with them.
for the rest of your questions the answer is yes, go in and be honest, say you are a collector, ask if they have any odd, old coins etc, some tellers know to look for silver so you may not get anything.
but if you can find a branch that is happy to help you out then you are in luck. |
