The undated version being a scarce variety.
The edge reads: Payable by N.Todd Denton Norfolk.

Here too is a little information about the castle depicted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bungay_Castle

That is very nice.

The Token Book ( published 2010 by Galatea ) lists this as £80 in EF.

Is this a mule? Bell in "Commercial Coins 1787 -1804" lists the castle obverse as D&H22, with a reverse of a figure of justice ( no plinth ) over a date of 1794 and "FOR CHANGE NOT FRAUD" surrounding. This is described as being issued by one Samuel Prentice, a token collector, who made varieties to create rarities.

The same reverse of justice on your token is shown as the obverse for a token listed as D&H21, reverse as follows:

Hand holding scroll containing text "We promise to / pay the Bearer / on DEMAND / one / HALFPENNY". ( Capitals and line breaks as shown ).
"BUNGAY" above scroll, "1795" below.

This token is also mentioned as being used by Samuel Prentice, a grocer and chandler.

Hi A,

Yes, since digging out these tokens (the intention being to share a few here) I've been doing a little research too. I think you're right, this is likely a mule of the Prentice and Todd issues, hence the lack of date.
Is the Galatea listing for the undated version?

Mine is better than EF and has quite a bit of lustre. I'm afraid iPad photography isn't good enough to show coins at their best, but its all I have to work with.

As per your post elsewhere, on the balance of probabilities I would say this is a mule for reasons above and because there is no date. I cannot be sure beyond all reasonable doubt.
