I too have not been able to find anything about this online, but one thing is certain: it has no great age and is likely part of some recent fantasy token series or toy money set as I did find photos of another, struck in a silvery coloured metal, which has the denomination 'one crown'.

Yes, well done, you made a good job of removing that glue.
Polished, not plated, but nothing lost as the coins had almost no monetary value before they were polished anyway.

The plating would have been done by a private individual messing about with a random coin taken from their pocket, so nothing to do with the mint.

Plated, or possibly painted.

I don't think it's fake.
Could you try to get some decent photos of it? Preferably in natural daylight.

Should I wish to offer a coin for sale, but would rather not ship overseas, can I limit the offer to fellow UK community members?

A very common coin, particularly in low grades. This one would be UK grade VG. Value 50p-75p.

Nice. Yes, a proof, struck in both copper and silver.
The patterns have a QVATVOR MARIA VINDICO (I claim the four seas) reverse legend and BRITANNIA instead of the date in the exergue.

Freeman catalogs this coin as R17 (16-50 known examples) whilst Gouby catalogs this as R7 - Extremely Rare (26-50)

Here's a recent happy find of mine I thought other members here may enjoy seeing. The 1911 'hollow neck' penny first discovered by Michael Gouby. Very rare and not often encountered in grades above VG.

Privy mark bell, both sides, and apostrophe stops.
Nice, but is it scarce?

Yes, thank you John, tower looks more likely than Lombardic A.
I have just one more which I'd like you to look at, and which I'll post this evening, then it's 'arrivederci hammered token farthings' and back to my early milled happy place....
