This was touched on in the thread about the 2025 product schedule. Sometimes you get the image on the mint website, sometimes not. It is a rather stark change that I'm looking forward to. This is actually the longest running ASE set, so to me it's pretty significant. It's easier to store, anyways. Now that there is a definite "bookend" to the first generation Congrats OGP, I'll have to hunt down a good storage box to contain them (I have the whole set). One unicorn that would be fun to track down is one of the first generation Congrats sets that was actually given as a gift. Easy to fake I guess, but who would fake that? Anyways I didn't think I'd seen this pictured in the forum so I thought I'd share. It sounds like it may be somewhat limited next year, so I'm glad I'm subscribed.

I wonder if there will be a space on the OGP to write a note to the recipient. Again I do wonder if these are ever really purchased for the intended purpose? To me it's just collectors that buy them.

Quote: Sorry, Congratulations for what? I'll assume first that you're just being humorous or sarcastic. If not, without looking at the Mint website, from the beginning these were marketed for special occasion gift giving such as weddings, birthdays, graduations and the like. Again I'm curious if they really reach that market. I suspect mostly collectors buy these. It seems many go to get graded. It just occurred to me that this will really alter the amount of Congrats sets with the non original coin inserted back into it. The old folders most often were wrecked removing the ASE at the graders.

@Gilly: Do you think proof ASE's will crack the $100 mark ?

Quote: Do you think proof ASE's will crack the $100 mark ? My Magic 8 Ball says "yes". The premium we pay is over the top as it is. I don't think the greed will end any time soon. They are at least producing things that the collectors are interested in. They were I believe at $82 for the 2024 Congrats set, by the time the S proof came out it was $95. Yeah I bet unless silver really takes a dive they'll probably want $100 for the Congrats. If silver stays high, then they'll probably use that as some justification to charge even more.

Gilly, Another Great topic, I see the Mints have changed the Congratulations sets Packaging. Let's discuss this, I too collect these " Congratulations sets " since the start. I too have a storage problem with These that they are far toooo large to store, Anyways I see they changed that, which I like..... I Will be cutting Back Hard My annual indulgences, This " set " is a Duplicate to most that collect these ASE's, The Congratulations sets are Not a Special issued release, They are Not a Specially minted Variety, They do Have a Mint Mark that Most collector's Will add to their collections, IF you collect Every Single Mint Marked American Silver Eagle Minted. While the Congratulations set carries an Exact Duplicate usually a W or S version offered Exactly the same way, a Single coin in a Package. I collect the ASE Series, Not packaging going Forward... However this Congrats Set has traditionally had an Already released or about to be released same Coins inside, So Why would the average collectors collect Every Mint Marked ASE , then because of the Packaging, By one of These, See my point.... ( for me, not anymore ). Special collectors collect Special Shiny objects, I have received this set, By the way, A Congratulations set!!! This is Not a Set. A Set would infer more than One, No.... I will be cutting this " set " from my collection, from 2025 on ( unless the CS has an Enhanced Uncirculated Version ) .....Duplication Costs, from my perspective.

" Quote: Do you think proof ASE's will crack the $100 mark ? " Let's see, as We speak Silver is @ $31.00 per ounce, and Gold is Just below $2,700.00 per ounce. I also believe when the precious metals Explode Higher, Guess who raises their prices. .... I Do believe the " privy " marks are going to pull the price Over the $ 100.00 Mark. I am Still Wondering WHY they are picking up these marks with the American Silver Eagles program. ( can't be just $$$$ ). Hope the ASE program does not go Auctioning Soon.... Are they using the Most recognized Silver coins design in the World to " enhance " their " Sales ? Gilly, Here I ask, What's your opinions on the Mints using the ASE's for Privy marks, ? Thanks

Quote: Let's discuss this, I too collect these " Congratulations sets " since the start. In my own view, the coin+the OGP constitutes a set. But I definitely see your point of view, too. I understand your position. I guess since I have them all, I'd sort of hate to skip it. I could wait for the aftermarket to offer it for less. Most of mine were both in the aftermarket, since I didn't really get serious about collecting ASEs until around, mmmmm, 2019-2020. But I like the coins and the OGP both. Plus to me, you have more week defined goals. It gets wonky in my mind trying to determine what your goals even are when you turn to the slab/graded side. A. Chasing a specific grade. B. Chasing a specific label, and then C. There are so many different OGP combinations that will NEVER even be slabbed. So my own preference is just go for the complete OGP sets. Takes up more room. But I am content knowing I have all the sets with complete OGP. So that's my start of the discussion. Quote:What's your opinions on the Mints using the ASE's for Privy marks, ? I don't really know how I feel. On one hand, everything has been pretty stale in the ASE world since 2021. The RCM has been doing various things with their SML for quite awhile now. Various anti-counterfeit features that are actually cool. Ultra high relief, Privies. So I don't know if the mint is intending to follow suit, if that's where this is coming from? Look at some of the Maple leafs from the last maybe 10+ years. Some are cool, I have a few. I guess the mint could do that. At least it's something to talk about, it's been so dead the last few years. The SML I live the most is really tastefully don't, that was called the Tailored Finish, the mint could definitely do that one for me. I think they may have used that finish since then as well. It is a "W" mintmark, in their case means the Winnipeg Mint.

You stated: " On one hand, everything has been pretty stale in the ASE world since 2021. " I see your answer, I am asking about the " Privy " mark introduction to the ASE series. I am wondering why did they chose this series to use them ? You stated the ASE series was " stale ", After thinking about it I see your point. I guess these are the newest ASE's, that are going to be a Part of the Original series. I was hoping someone could help shine thoughts as to Why

Oh, alright. I'm not sure how the first privy (other than the V75) really came about. Did Nice Gang approach the Mint? Or the other way around? There may be research that could come up with that answer. So I'm really unsure why exactly the ASE was chosen in that case. I'd venture to guess it was partly because of the inherent silver value, the size and denomination, that it isn't considered a circulating coin, because the Mint wasn't going to just make them a medal, because Nice Gang wanted a US Mint coin. That would be my top explanations, any combination thereof or none of the above could be the truth. They didn't want to just privy mark a Sacaguea dollar, they wanted something a bit more exclusive and with the ounce of silver going for it. As to the proofs next year, maybe they see a market for it. Maybe they wanted a coin and not another medal and maybe it doesn't take an act of Congress to do a Privy ASE because it's not substantially a new or different coin? That thought I really like! Did the Mint find a loophole? So there's a few thoughts on the Privy ASEs.

Thanks Gilly, Always a pleasure discussing Numismatics with Other enthusiasts, I appreciate your opinion. If these privy marks are an indication of " collectibles to come " We could be seeing Another direction moving forward in the ASE program. While I am intrigued about the origin of THIS idea using the ASE's to carry ( privy marked releases ), This Should be Great. I am coming around to Sharing the American Silver Eagle Program to advance the organizations We Honor, I also feel these organizations are Our Best, and Deserve the recognition and praises We can give them. The American Silver Eagle Program has shown Class and Dignity from the Start, My hope is they Continue that Honor....... Edit: I see your last posted picture resembles My Other ASE " sets " They ALL look alike ....Coin and package together
